Annual Engine Maintenance
With the sailing season over, it's time to prepare Coelacanth for winter storage. The Yanmar 3YM30 has been reliable all season, but proper winterization is essential.
Tasks Completed
- Changed engine oil and filter
- Replaced fuel filter
- Drained and refilled raw water cooling system with antifreeze
- Greased all fittings
- Fogged the cylinders
- Disconnected battery and put on maintenance charger
Notes for Spring
The impeller looked good this year, but I've ordered a spare to have on board. The alternator belt has some wear — will replace in spring commissioning.
